Christa and I took the dogs for a walk in the Botanic Gardens today, so I took the camera along. With a ton of trees and gardens, and some exceedingly tame birds; this is the place to learn how to take nature shots easily.
The Canon Digital Learning Center over at photoworkshop.com is an excellent set of tutorials for the beginner to digital SLRs. While the tutorials are obviously focused on learning to use Canon’s range of digital SLRs, they are going to be of use no matter what camera you own.
While the photo gallery isn’t even running yet, and probably won’t be for several weeks, here is the first photo that will be on it. 
Taken in the Durban Botanic Garden’s Orchid Room, this little waterfall produced a lovely shot.

With the acquisition of my brand spanking new Canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT in the U.S.), I feel it is time to start a photography section in A Darker Vision. This blog will be the first step in that direction.
